Doriana Milazzo began to study the violin at the Musical Institute “Vincenzo Bellini” in Catania at a very young age getting 5th year diploma. She has won several National Competitions as a violinist and for some opera seasons (1996 and 1997) she was a member of the European Young Orchestra for the summer festival “Opere e Concerti” at Mancinelli Theatre in Orvieto.
Subsequently, she devoted herself completely to vocal studies, graduating with honors at the Conservatory “G. B. Martini” in Bologna.
She has won many competitions among which the “Umberto Sacchetti” National Competition and the International Singing Competition in Orvieto (second prize).
She perfected her studies under the guidance of M° Sherman Lowe.
During the 2003/2004 season, she debuted at the Teatro Comunale in Modena singing in the world première M. Biscarini’s La famosa invasione degli orsi in Sicilia.
On then international scene, she performed the leading role of Emilia in S. Mercadante’s La Vestale at the “Wexford Festival Opera” in Ireland under the baton of Paolo Arrivabeni, gaining the praise of both the public and critics. The live recording of the opera has been published by Marco Polo Record Label.
In the 2004/05 season she took part in the production of B. Britten’s Peter Grimes at the Teatro Comunale in Modena, Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia and at the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara under the baton of Alistair Dawes and the direction of Cesare Lievi.
In 2005 she performed at the “Festival of Nations” at Città di Castello in the opera Lontano dagli occhi (music by L. Ferrero from Polish Songs op. 74 by F. Chopin).
On the occasion of the inauguration of the 2005/06 opera season at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, she debuted in the role of Anna in R. Zandonai’s opera I Cavalieri di Ekebù under the baton of Daniele Callegari and staged by Federico Tiezzi.
Among other successes in the same season, are worth mentionating her debut at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna and at the Teatro Rossini in Lugo in W. A. Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne under the baton of Diego Fasolis.
The 2006/2007 season began with her acclaimed debut in W. A. Mozart’s Don Giovanni as Zerlina at the Teatro Grande in Brescia, also performed at the Teatro Sociale in Como, the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia, the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona and the Opéra de Massy in France.
Not to be forgotten her debut as Lauretta in G. Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi under the baton of Julian Reynolds at the Teatro Comunale in Modena, at the theatres of Piacenza and Ferrara and, in a tour, at the theatres of Lucca, Pisa, Livorno, Bolzano, Udine and Ravenna.
In the same season, she sang Pamina in W. A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Opera de Bilbao conducted by Jean-Christophe Spinosi, staged by Daniele Abbado and with scenography by Emanuele Luzzati.
She also gave several concerts, among which F. Poulenc’s Stabat Mater under the baton of Zoltán Peskò, a concert at the Teatro Regio in Parma with the famous Italian bass Michele Pertusi and a concert in London for Reuters Press Agency.
During 2006 season she made an acclaimed European Tour with the famous tenor Andrea Bocelli under the baton of Marcello Rota singing in important cities, Galway (Eire), Kilkenny (Eire), Rotterdam, Anversa, Zurigo, Oslo, Helsinki, Atene.
In the 2009 season she performed the role of Klärchen in L. V. Beethoven’s Egmont at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari and with reciting voice of the actor Claudio Gioè.
In the 2010 she gave an acclaimed concert with Peter Dvorský at the Smetana Hall in Prague in the presence of the President of the Czech Republic Vàklav Klaus.
In the same season, at the Tesla Arena of Prague, great success in the leading role of Lucia for the world premiere of Pietro e Lucia, a modern opera written by Dusan Rapos and under the baton of Marcello Rota.
The 2011 season begins with a great success at the Smetana Hall in Prague for the live television concert of the Symphony No. 8 by G. Mahler under the baton of Libor Pešek whose CD was released in 2016 by the record label of the Czech National Symphony Orchestra LDT.
